EVENTS, FINE DINING, IMPECCABLE SERVICE
If you hear “What a great party!” chances are… The Butler Did It!
But-ler
1. the highest ranked servant in charge of hospitality
2. your choice for a service company with the finesse to flawlessly manage all aspects of gracious entertaining — whether that means assisting at a dinner party for six close friends or catering a lavish wedding for hundreds.
The Butler Did It has been a preferred hospitality partner to New York’s first families, business executives and corporate event planners for nearly 40 years. Our staff have shared in so many joyful events: birthdays, weddings, engagement parties, mitzvahs, cocktail receptions, dinners and client entertainment to name a few. We’ve played our part in wonderful holiday gatherings: Seders, Thanksgiving Turkey with all the fixings, The Feast of the Seven Fishes or a Dickensian Christmas Goose – The Butler Did It has a flair for the finer things. Our typical service area is a two to three hour radius from New York City. In fact, we usually spend our summer weekends staffing weddings at Wolffer Vineyards in Sagaponack, NY and at private homes all over the Hamptons.
Breakfasts, brunches, lunches, pool parties, picnics, book signings, open houses. All these events involve planning and preparation that we can manage seamlessly. Whether it’s one experienced butler to handle all the elements of an intimate dinner or a full crew to cater a wedding for one hundred and fifty guests, the Butler has Done It and is ready to Do It Again!
WHO WE ARE
Martha Kessler, General Manager
Martha in one word can be described as the conductor of The Butler Did It. Having had a chance to experience all aspects of the catering business, Martha approaches every event as a piece of music that requires the highest levels of harmony. As a people person, she takes great pleasure in collaborating with clients to create a menu that is just right for the occasion and assisting with other aspects that make the event so much more special. She loves the buzzy foodie vibe of the lower east side where she lives with her flamenco musician husband and two children. Martha also appreciates the silent moments, the mmmm’s when the food is served at an otherwise boisterous dinner party, and that’s when the conductor takes a bow.
John L. McLean, Service Manager
For John, the passion for hospitality was ignited at a very young age. Whether putting on a tuxedo to carve a Thanksgiving turkey or at one of many other family gatherings John mastered all aspects of service, and never looked back. Having had an opportunity to be a part of variety of events ranging from “for the hell of it” bashes to more sombre occasions is what makes John appreciate the relationships he has formed with clients-turned-friends over the years. When he’s not rubbing shoulders with New York society’s finest, he enjoys hand-blowing glass (“Trust me a cocktail tastes MUCH BETTER when you drink it out of a glass you made yourself!”). If there is anything John takes pride in is getting it right the first time, every time!
